The canine obesity It is the main veterinary problem in Spain. The figures do not deceive. Up to 60% of dogs are overweight or obese. And this excess weight is not only an aesthetic issue, but it also translates into a series of health problems such as diabetes, hypertension, joint problems, etc. In large dogs, in addition, to the general health problems that result from Obesity adds to the overload that the joints suffer, which ends up worsening the conditions of osteoarthritis or hip dysplasia.

And what do we owe this for this excess weight in our dogs? The formula is very simple: the calories ingested exceed the needs, that is, a lot of food and little exercise. Surely more than one sounds that phrase. It is the same as in our case.

With our calculator, and knowing what your dog weighs and its breed (if it is a mestizo you will need to know its main breed) you will be able to know if the animal is below its ideal weight, weighs just enough or otherwise needs to lose some weight.

If the ideal weight calculator for dogs He has indicated that your faithful friend needs to lose weight, you can attack the task from two fronts:

Exercise: You can propose to extend the daily walk 15 minutes, or take another walk in the middle of the afternoon. If your dog likes games with ball or frisbee, get one and take a few minutes to throw it, your dog will exercise without realizing it and you will also spend quality time together. Surely over time you learn to use those minutes to disconnect from daily problems.

Food: Natural dog food is the best alternative for a balanced diet, low in carbohydrates and high in protein. But you must also control the quantity. Do not leave the feed in your feeder all day, but you should remove what you have not eaten after 10 minutes until your next meal. Also, keep in mind the prizes and sweets in the total daily amount. And above all, nothing left of the table.

You have already used the ideal weight calculator for dogs, and tells you that your dog is overweight. Nor is it for much, you may have thought. But remember that an overweight dog is now a fat dog in a few years.

Re: SIZE OF A GOLDEN # 8712759

The way to measure a dog is from the cross (where the neck ends and the trunk begins) to the ground. You put the dog attached to a wall, make a sign at the height of the cross and then with a meter you see the cts. What's up to the ground

A golden medium height at 3 months should measure approximately 37 cts. and when he turned 4 months 43 cts.

Your adult height, according to the standard, can range from 51 to 56 cts. Until 6 months it will grow quickly (although not as much as from 3 to 4). Then it will slow down and at approximately 10 months it will stop growing (although not widening).

Re: Weight of a 5 month old puppy # 8714098

You cannot specify whether a dog is fat or not with the simple fact of its weight. It will depend on your height, structure and bone. That is, if you say that your boyfriend weighs 100 kilos, in principle you can think that he is fat, but it will not be so if the boyfriend (or stable partner) turns out to be Pau Gasol.

Assuming your puppy is of average size and structure (for example 52 cts), 23 kilos is an appropriate weight.

I can tell you the same about the amount of food. Each dog is different. To tell you something, 500 grams of feed per day can be an adequate amount.

Re: Golden weight at 4 months. # 8701323

Hi Virgil, I don't know if he can serve you as an orientation, because our Lolita is 4 months old. On Friday we took her to the vet to vaccinate and weighed her, weighed 12 kilos and little and told us that a tad was exceeded, so we have been advised not to increase the amount of feed per day at the moment. The problem is that I don't know how that corresponds to a male.

Anyway, if your dog eats the amount that they recommended and you look healthy, you better not be fat so they don't suffer their joints.

Re: Golden weight at 4 months. # 8701324

Regarding weight, I can't help you, because I don't even remember what Mowgly weighed when I was four months old. Now he is one year old and weighs 32 kg.

Do not worry about hair, mine began to grow more after 6 months. I was already doubting if I would not be a camouflaged labrador :)))). The first thing that grew was the hair on the hind legs and then the tail. and so on. What has more short is the skirt, but I have been told that it is because of the heat.

What I do recommend is that you brush every day, and you will see how you notice how your hair shines and how it grows faster, and by the way the hairs that remain in the brush you will not have around the house :) )))

Greetings and licks

Hello!! Thank you all very much for answering. Marta I also have a female. It is called Lluna, and today it has turned 4 months and weighs 12 kilos with 200 grams, so I will not increase the dose of feed I do not want a ball. hehehehehe nevertheless you have left me more calm because I thought I was thin (he looks so much leg and so much neck, now I am preparing the album to see if I can hang some). On the hair, thank you very much Mar. mine are coming out of your ears. It's funnier. hehehehehe. the only thing that worries me is that when making a poop, it makes a loose hair, it has form but no consistency (it may be the feed or the heat that it is beginning to make, for now I will wait to see). sorry for the nasty details! Well a kiss to all and I'll tell you ..

Re: Golden small? # 8713712

Yes, of course, 1,800 kilos with two months seems very little. That weight is normal in a 20-day-old puppy.

Has the vet seen it? Where did you buy the puppy? It is that the difference between the normal weight of a 2-month-old golden and your puppy's weight is so great, that it does not seem to be simply a matter of feeding, of incompatibility or even of parasites.

That is, being a little hard, it seems almost impossible for a golden as small as it may be to weigh 1,800 kilos at 2 months. As Laura says 5 kilos would be the minimum. But it would be normal for it to weigh around 6.5 or 7.

Re: Golden small? # 8713714

The most important thing when buying a puppy is that it is a serious breeder and that you trust him. If so, you will not be able to doubt the date of birth.

If you have bought it without enough information or they have given it to you, the thing may change.

Tell us what the vet told you.

Re: Golden small? # 8713715

I have taken her to the vet and she told me that she is somewhat malnourished but well hydrated. He has also sent me:

"Nutri-plus gel" of the house "Virbac" morning and noon (http://www.virbac.com.mx/produc/nutriPlus.asp)

"Pro-Exteric Triplex" of the house "Protexin" morning and night 1ml (I do not find the product on the web but according to the leaflet it is for the intestinal flora and the issue of diarrhea)

In addition it seems that when he looked at the poop under the microscope he saw a pinch of blood and that if he continued to dirty diarrhea he would take it to analyze (in case he had "sterococci" or whatever it was called).

The issue is that I feed him 4 times a day and sometimes he doesn't eat me much, the first and second time well but the rest less.

Will I have to give it 3 times instead of 4?

Greetings and thanks to all for involving you so much.
